Yes, Your Parrot Needs a Play Stand!
Here's why ...

One of the most essential needs of a pet bird is to have the opportunity to "be a bird".  For a pet bird, what does that mean exactly?  First of all, consider the intelligence of a pet parrot.  It's pretty awesome.  Being stuck in a cage day after day ... everyday ... is frankly, boring at best and may be considered abusive for a tame, well-nurtured, healthy bird that requires stimulation and exercise.  This is true even if a bird's cage is a great environment.  Afterall, would you like to sit in a room and look out through bars all day.  I bet not!  Parrots are fun and their antics are so entertaining so why limit the entertainment you can enjoy.  A pet parrot needs his own play stand where he can enjoy the stimulation of exercise, flap his wings, hang upside down and do all the crazy things that we've come to appreciate.  These activities are necessary for him ... and a joy for us to watch.  Providing a parrot play gym is the easiest way to give your bird "out of cage" time, and definitely allows the monkey to flourish in your bird.  Fortunately, there are different styles of these parrot play stands so you can choose the perfect one suitable to you bird's personality, activity level and health.   

So what should you consider when you buy parrot play gyms?  First, consider how it will appeal to your bird.  Is it a stand with just something to perch on?  Well, that might seem like the answer ... a way to get your bird out of his cage and those styles do serve a purpose.  But it isn't the whole answer.  A playstand should be adapted with the addition of fun things to do.  Consider adding horizontal levels of perches of varying diameters approriately sized to your bird, places to hang toys and other accessories for birds to interact with, food/water bowls, treat feeders, etc.
